The physical appearance of Kabuliwala

The Kabuliwala was a tall strong man of Kabul with a booming voice. ‘Kabuliwala’ is a very heart touching story by Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore.

Tagore portrays the paternal affection of a man from Kabul towards a Bengali girl Mini. The story relates how paternal love transcends all barriers.

The man from Kabul, fondly called Kabuliwala by Mini, was a tall handsome man over six feet tall. He was well built and had a very booming voice. On his head adorned an Afghani turban. His eyes were lined with Surma. He had a bushy beard which was dyed orange.

He had big hands and feet. He wore the typical Afghani dress of a flowing Kurta and loose Pyjamas and carried a huge tote. His appearance revealed his Afghani identity. He spoke with a nasal accent.
