During the period of British rule, there were the three major pillars on which the British administration of India was based upon.


The three pillars included the Civil Services, army and the Police.


In the police system, it relieved the zamindars of their police functions while establishing a regular police force to maintain law and order.


This change had put India ahead of Britain where a system of police had not yet developed.
