Describe the political condition in Russia prior to the October Revolution 1917.

Before the October Revolution in 1917, Leon Trotsky who headed the Military Revolutionary Committee kept a majority of the workers and locally positioned troops under his control. He also arrested members belonging to the Provisional Government. The first Soviet government with Bolsheviks representing the majority was formed. Called Council of People’s Commissars, the government was spearheaded by Vladimir Lenin and included Leon Trotsky, Joseph Stalin, A Rykov, and Anatolii Lunacharsky as its other pivotal members.
