Position of Women in Early Vedic Period

- Women in the early vedic age had a respectable position in the society. Their positions were as equal as men in the society.
- Females were as free as males in the society. Education was equal for both boys and girls. Girls studied the Veda .Women have freedom to select their husbands. But divorce was not prevalent .Women were were treated as Ardhanginis. There was no Purdah System.
- In domestic life also women were equally treated. All the important decisions in the family were equally decided by both men and women. Women performs many functions at home - look after the family ,performs household works. Apart from this also help their husband in their work.
