On December 22, 1704 at a place called Sirsa River, Chamkaur, a historic battle was fought between the Sikhs and the Mughals. Guru Gobind Singh Ji led 40 Sikhs to the war against an army of 10 lack Mughals led by Wazir Khan. Wazir Khan wanted to capture him because despite Aurangzeb’s efforts, Guru Gobind Singh did not accept his subjugation to the Mughals. The battle in the history of Sikhs and their valor is known for its religious faith. Guru Gobind Singh described the war in "Jafarnama".

Raw fortress was attacked. There was a shower of arrows and bullets from within. There were several Mughal military casualties. Mughal generals had underestimated the Sikhs. They finished the ammunition and arrows but did not dare go near crafted sword and spear to fight a war. Himmat Singh Ji along with his associates went to the battlefield with a crew of five, including the hostile enemy. Though Mughal Jarnail Nahar Khan attempted to climb the ladder, he was shot down with an arrow.

After killing a few hundreds, the five Sikhs died. Then Gurudeva sent a second batch of five Sikhs to the battlefield. This crew also hit enemies and a heavy toll of the enemy too were killed. Thus this strategy was applied and a batch of five were sent to the battlefield. Now Nawab Wazir Khan rose to a one-time attack. Everyone knew that such a big attack is very difficult to stop. So the remaining Sikhs prayed before Gurudev to leave the war zone along with his sons....
