The election commissioner is appointed by President of the country. He performs an independent role which is not answerable to President after appointment.
some functions of election commissioner-
1)preparation of electoral rolls.
2) Fixing the election dates.
3) printing of ballot paper.
4) Holding of free and fair elections and declaration of result.
5) Allotment of election symbols.

1) Election commissioner can appoint civil servants at the time of election.
2)Election commissioner can suspend any civil servant at the time of election.
3) If he find any malpractice in vote banks he can cancel all votes and can conduct revoteing.
