1.he frames national policies ,also is ex-officio chairman of planning commission.

2. He is in charge of executive and legislature.

3. He supervises meetings of cabinet and council of ministers and of other ministers.

4. He acts a link between the president and the council of ministers.

5. He advices president in all matters as president is bounded by article 54 to act on the former's advice.
