Blood circulation in Periplaneta or Cockroach:
Cockroach has an open blood vascular system due to opening of blood vessels into spaces. The circulatory system of the cockroach consists of tubular hearts, anterior aorta, pericardium, and hemocoel.
The first chamber of hear continues to anterior aorta. Below the heart, diaphragm is located which divides the perivisceral cavity into 2 parts namely pericardium and hemocoel. Due to the relaxation and contraction of alary muscles attached to the diaphragm, the blood circulation occurs in the Periplaneta.
