During Inhalation process :

the ribs moves up and outwards while the diaphragm moves down . this moment increases space in our chest cavity and thus reduces pressure inside the chest cavity . the air outside nostrils which is higher pressure thus rushes into the lungs and the lungs get filled with air .

During Exhalation process :

the ribs moves down and inwards while the diaphragm moves up to its former position ( upwards) this reduces the size of the chest cavity and thus increases the pressure inside the chest cavity . this pushes the air out of the lungs .

these breathing movements can easily be felt in our body . take a deep breath while keeping your palm on the abdomen . you can easily feel the movement of abdomen and expansion of your chest cavity .
