Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) process was developed by Kary Mullis in 1983.
In this process, many copies of a sequence of DNA are made. This is done in a lab, using an enzyme called **DNA Polymerase**
It is called chain reaction because because the result of one cycle is used immediately for next cycle. This allows exponential growth to happen.
PCR is used in Gene therapy, infectious diseases and even forensics.
