l there are in all three stages to treat the wastewater they are as follows 1. primary treatment-sewage is carried out by sewers to sewage treatment plant. here, large solid likely is plastic are separated by the stainers.After this, the sewage is passed through a grint and sand removal tank which is called as grint chamber. Then the sewage is passed through the settlement tanks where the most of the suspended solid sinks to bottom. The solid that settle at the bottom of the settlement tanks are referred to as primary sludge. This large can be used to produce compost and biogas. Floating solids are removed with the skimmers. The water that comes out of the settlement time is called clarified water

Second treatment: this involves the breaking down of organic matter by the action of bacteria. This can be done in the open tanks called aeration tanks. Auto in Bexley and that means oxygen upon the clarified water in this thanks. Open air is blown into these tanks sometime, aerobic bacteria are used to break down organic matter dissolved in sewage. This process take place in closed tank. In other cases the action of bacteria make solid settle down at the bottom. This is called as biological or secondary sludge

Tertiary treatment: sometimes the wastewater is treated for the before being discharged into water bodies.
