Role of Antagonistic muscles

One muscles of the pair contracts to move the body part,the other musles in the pair then contacts to return the body parts back to the original position .

Muscles that works like this are known as Antagonistic muscles contract the other musles relax and lenghtens.

Antagonist and agonist muscles often occurs in pair,called Antagonistic pair.

An example of an Antagonistic pair is the biceps and the triceps:to contacts ,the triceps relaxes while biceps contacts to lift the atm.
