Suleiman I or Suleiman The Magnificent was one of the great Caliphs and Sultans of Ottoman Empire. He assumed the throne at the age of 26 in 1520 and ruled for 46 years. During his rule he expanded the Ottoman Empire and won many victories in Europe and Middle East. He controlled the parts of Hungary, Romania and Mediterranean sea. He also laid a siege to Vienna.
He organised a strong army and built great naval power and expanded his empire.His achievements were not limited to military conquests only, he was a great administrator and reformer as well. He reformed the tax system and made Ottoman empire a great economic power. He introduced a single legal code throughout his empire. Besides, he built public institutions, gave privileges to arts and crafts and worked for welfare of people. His rule is known as the golden age of Ottoman Empire.
