Footprints without Feet written by Herbert George Wells is the story is about a scientist named Griffin. The scientist had discovered rare chemicals that could make any man invisible; however, the man can be touched and could be physically felt.
EXPLANATION:
- The Invisible Man Griffin was the one who stole the money as he wanted to undertake his experiment staying in the Vicar’s apartment. He's run out of money and must pay Mrs. Hall for his hostel boarding. She's already been asking him to leave her room, but he cannot just go as that will ruin his plans, and so he must have some easy money in his pockets. In the wee little hours, he bursts into the vicarage. Griffin got rid of his clothing and bandages and went to the Vicar's Hall, in order to avoid capture and being killed.
- He knew that the Vicar kept his cash in the study at his desk. The wife of Reverend Bunting, Mrs. Bunting, wakes up hearing the door of the bedroom being opened and closed. She sits up and listens carefully to the sound of footsteps coming from the next dressing room, and she heads towards the stairs, without waking her husband. More and more upset, she lifts her husband to investigate. She goes downstairs. When Reverend Bunting goes through his room, he hears the desk drawer fumbling noise. Loud sneeze is then heard, while the intruder (Griffin) can see Bunting, the Buntings cannot see the intruder.
- The Reverend returns to his bedroom to find a poker which he uses as weapon tool. When he comes back into the study, he looks through the crack in the door with Mrs. Bunting in the tow. However they couldn't see the intruder again, but the Buntings could hear the sound of somebody's handling money. Bunting is bursting in, brandishing his poker, and screaming at the burglar to give up. However, even though Reverend and Mrs. Bunting still can hear someone in the room, the study appears empty. They look for the intruder high and low, however could not find the intruder.
- A candle was lit and housekeeping money was taken from the desk, making things even stranger. Suddenly, in the passage, the Buntings heard another violent sneeze. The door of the kitchen slams; the intruder has to be inside the house. However, the burglar is nowhere to be seen when Bunting opens the kitchen doors and pees inside. Bunting sees the back door open, apparently all alone, before closing with a crash that causes the candle of Mrs. Bunting to flicker. The intruder has gone.
