Describe the significance od adding header and footer to presentation

There is no significance as such. A header is used to give a basic overlay, shorthand, or brief explanation of the content that follows. It is like a title and may also contain the Page Number/Chapter Number/Date/Presentor/Creator et cetera. A footer is commonly used for the same purpose. Mostly for displaying the page number, a watermark or a signature of an Institution.
