One reason for the French revolutionwas the prevailing feudal system. 18th century French society was divided into 3 estates. The first estate was the clergy, second estate the nobles and the third estate was everybody else. ... The third estate, which were mostly peasants, had to pay all the taxes.

the cause of French revolution were given below:
(1) social ::
= the first estate and second estate belonged to the privileged section but on the other hand, the third estate was clergy and belongs to the middle class family , the first and second estate was exempted by the taxes , and the third estate only has to pay taxes ,which on later turned into a great revolution
(2) economic ::
= the treasure of Louis xvi had becomed empty and that,s why the king increased the tax but this was not liked by the third estate and HENCE the REVOLUTION started.
