Functions of Auxin. The main function of auxin is to help plants grow. Auxin stimulates plant cells to elongate, and the apical meristem of a plant is one of the main places that auxin is produced. ... Auxin also elongates root cells down into the ground, while at the same time elongating cells in the stem upward.

THE SOURCE AND FUNCTION OF AUXIN

AUXIN IS A PLANT HARMOME PRODUCED IN THE STEM TIP THAT PROMOTES CELL ELONGTATION

IT MOVES TO THE DARKER SIDE OF THE PLANT CAUSING THE CELL THERE TO GROW LARGER THAN CORRESPONDING ON THE LIGHTER CELLS

AUXIN ALSO PLAYS A ROLE IN MAINTAINING APICAL DOMINANCE.

IT STIMULATE PLANT CELL TO ELONGATE
