The steps taken by the Indian government to preserve fauna(wildlife) are :-
- Financial and Technical assistance is provided to many botanical gardens by the government since 1992.
- 18 Biosphere Reserves set up in the country to protect flora and fauna. And you know what's interesting about them ? Four of them the Sundarbans in West Bengal, Nanda Devi in Uttrakhand, the Gulf of Mannar in Tamilnadu and the Nilgiris (Kerala Karnataka and Tamil Nadu) have been included in the World network of Biosphere Reserves.
- Many of the eco-development projects have been introduced such as the Project Tiger, Project Rhino, etc.
- 103 national parks 535 Wildlife sanctuaries and zoological Gardens are set up to take care of the vast natural heritage of our country.
