Clinical thermometer is a glass tube with a bulb at one end containing a liquid (generally Mercury)  which expands in a uniform manner with temperature .

The tube  is narrow (capillary) and has calibration markings along it for Fahrenheit & Celsius.

Below are few precautions to be taken while using a clinical thermometer

1  Wash the thermometer before & after use

2.  Do not hold it from bulb

3  Shake the Thermometer before use  to bring it at normal temperature

4  While Taking reading place it in line of eye sight

5 do not keep near flame

6 Handle it with care
