Pollen grains are the structure that guide pollen tube to enter the embryo sac. These are microscopic and carry the male reproductive cells of plant. A pollen grain contains cytoplasm along with the tube cell which becomes the pollen tube and the generative cell which releases the sperm nuclei.

The egg apparatus present towards the micropylar end, comprises of two synergids and an egg cell. These synergids possess special cellular thickenings at their micropylar tip which is called filiform apparatus. This filiform apparatus guides the pollen tube to enter embryo sac.
