Structure of Mitochondria :
- Mitochondria is a double membrane structure. The inner membrane is folded and it forms cristae.
- On the inner surface of the inner membrane there are knob like particles. They help in electron transport system.
- The space between outer membrane and inner membrane is known as perimitochondril space.
Function of mitochondria :
- Mitochondria is the power house of the cell. They generate ATP and it's a site of Respiration.
- They provide intermediates for the synthesis of biomolecules.
