The interior structure of the Earth is layered in spherical shells, like an onion. These layers can be defined by their chemical and their rheological properties. Earth has an outer silicate solid crust, a highly viscous mantle, a liquid outer core that is much less viscous than the mantle, and a solid inner core

The Sun and its family of planets formed when a cloud of dust and gas condensed 4.6 billion years ago. Several hundred million years after the Earth took form, an outer crust developed. ... Our only clues to how the Earth formed come from meteorites and the Moon because both formed simultaneously with the planets.

Description of the structure of the Earth and its evolution are as follows:

  • Earth's internal structure contains silicate solid crust, liquid outer core, asthenosphere and mantel and solid inner core. These are known as spherical shells.

Evolution of Earth-

  • The continents are shifted, mountain are raised and the floor of the oceans are moved by plate tectonics.
  • From some 4.5 bilolin years ago, at the time of its begining, Earth has been characterised by these constant changes.
  • The evolution of the planet was shaped by gravity and heat.
