Describe the T.S. of monocot stem.

Plant’s seeds contain only one cotyledon or embryonic leaf is known as monocotyledon or monocot.


T.S or the transverse section of stem is the internal tissues of monocot stem and you can find four regions in these T.S tissues such as epidermis, hypodermis, ground tissues and vascular bundles.


On the other part, vascular bundles contain xylem and phloem.

. It is the outermost layer.

⭐. It is madeup of single layered , rectangular cells.

⭐. It does not contain trichomes.

⭐. Thick cuticle is present.

⭐.Stomata helps for gaseous exchange.

⭐.Epidermies protects innermost tissues.

. HYPODERMIS

. It is present below the epidermis.

⭐.It is madeup of sclerenchyma and gives mechanical strength to the stem.

. GROUND TISSUE

. Except vascular bundles, remaining portion is called Ground Tissue.

⭐.It helps in the storage of food.

. VASCULAR BUNDLES

. Many oval shaped vascular bundles are scattered in the ground tissue.

⭐. Bundles are conjoint , collateral , closed.

⭐.Vascular bundles are surrounded by bundles sheath.

⭐. Cambium is absent.
