Anne Sullivan should be an inspiration to all teachers. She was able to teach Helen Keller through methods of trial and error, by using her own personal experiences with vision difficulty, by gaining Helen's trust and respect, through the usage of the Braille alphabet, and through the senses of taste and touch.
There was no one single "method" of teaching Helen Keller. Anne Sullivan had find one little area of success in dealing with Keller and then had to build on it day by day. Sullivan's single-minded determination to help Keller communicate, become educated & literate, and to become the role model she eventually became is what all teachers should strive to achieve with their students.
But what also must be remembered is Helen Keller's strong desire to become educated, literate, and able to communicate with her outside world. Every teacher would love to have such a goal-minded student.Their relationship was symbiotic--they both needed each other!
