It is based on the conditions where there is scarcity of food how people die because of hunger . and also describes steps taken by government , like government policies to improve these conditions . it makes us to see the miiror of the worl that some people have excessive food that they waste and some die because of food.

The story : Hunger

In this  story the author has portrayed the darker side of the society where Kasim's family suffers from hunger and starvation - the problems which have been in the family through several generations.He belongs to the class of manual labourers who find it difficult to make a decent life.

Thus the Author has tried to show the uneducated poor as well as the educated unemployed ,both suffer the pangs of hunger and are victims of starvation.
