Answer:

The South African activist and former president Nelson Mandela (1918-2013) helped bring an end to apartheid and has been a global advocate for human rights. A member of the African National Congress party beginning in the 1940s, he was a leader of both peaceful protests and armed resistance against the white minority’s oppressive regime in a racially divided South Africa. His actions landed him in prison for nearly three decades and made him the face of the antiapartheid movement both within his country and internationally. Released in 1990, he participated in the eradication of apartheid and in 1994 became the first black president of South Africa, forming a multiethnic government to oversee the country’s transition. after retiring from politics in 1999, he remained a devoted champion for peace and social justice in his own nation and around the world until his death in 2013 at the age of 95.

Answer:

Nelson Mandela always said that political freedom in South Africa was the result of the unimaginable sacrifices of thousands of black people. The people suffered due to the continuing bondage of deprivation poverty and discrimination. Nelson Mandela even thought of himself as simply the sum of all the great African patriots. He says that he regrets the fact that could not thank all those people who suffered and gave a great contribution to the struggle for freedom. He curses the system of apartheid and says that it produced a deep and lasting wound in his country and its people. But he says that the years of oppression and discrimination at the hands of white supremacy produced great men with extraordinary courage generosity and wisdom. The Robert Subukwes, the Walter Sisulus, the Chief Luthulis, the Bram Fischers, the Oliver Tambos, the Yusuf Dadoos are all examples of men that struggled for freedom. He had seen men stand up to attacks and torture without breaking showing strength and resilience that defies the imagination. Nelson Mandela says that his county was rich in minerals and gems but he could proudly say that the people were the country's finest wealth.
