Kalinga was only part that was not in the ashoka's occupation. He decided to fight on Kalinga and occupy it. The people of the Kalinga were patriotic. So they fought for the country till the end. in the end Ashoka won but he and the soldier killed lacs of patriotic people. People lost their loved ones. So Ashoka repent. He cried a lot then he decided to give up all the properties of him. And joined to Buddha dharma
