Answer:

An electric bell is a mechanical bell that functions by means of an electromagnet. When an electric current is applied, it produces a repetitive buzzing or clanging sound. When an electric current flows through the coils, the rods became magnetic and attract a piece of iron attached to a clapper.

4. Describe the structure and working of an electric bell.

Structure - The Electric bell consist of -

1. Gong 2. electromagnet 3. hammer 4. soft iron armature

Working - when we press switch the electric current starts flowing in the circuit.

The electromagnet starts producing the magnetic field which attracts the iron

strip towards it as a result the hammer strikes the gong and sound is produced .

now as we release the switch , the electric current supply stops as a result the

iron strip come back to its initial position and bell stops ringing .
