Mrs. Amelia Slater is a plump, red-faced, vigorous woman. She is married with Henry Slater and she has a 10 years old daughter named Victoria.She is always prepared to do any amount of straight talking to get her own way. She is mean, selfish and unscrupulous woman. When she got to know that grandfather died she took all the things she wanted- the bureau and the clock in a crafty manner. She was not concerned about the death in the family but was concerned about the money distribution and about her morning dress. She is quite opportunist because when she came to know that grandfather died she took the things she wanted before her sister Mrs. Elizabeth's arrival. She was ready to take care of her father when she came to know that grandfather was going to give away all the money to one with whom he will be stay before his death and for keeping grandfather with her she had a great fight with her sister.
