Describe with examples the function of primary and modal auxiliary verbs in English.

primary auxiliary verbs- the verbs be, have, and do--all three of which can function as either main verbs or auxiliary verbs.primary verbs are sometimes referred to as primary auxiliaries. eg -he is speaking to her now. 

modals auxiliary verbs are a very complex area of english grammar, so in this quick guide we will not be able to go into much detail, but we will at least get an overall idea of what their function is in a sentence. eg-could swim quite well when I was younger.
