Herpetology, a branch of zoology that deals with the study of amphibians and reptile provide significant insight of terrestrial and aquatic ecosystem. Marine reptile biodiversity of Andaman and Nicobar Islands include marine turtle, salt water crocodile, monitor lizards and marine snakes. In other parts of the world, the reptiles known as marine iguanas were found, whereas it is are not found in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The marine turtle found distributed throughout the tropical and subtropical coastal seas and offshore oceans areas. The marine turtle also associated with specialised ecosystems such as coral reefs, seagrass meadows and seaweed beds. They found to migrate long distances in the sea and reach sandy coastal areas to lay their eggs. The egg laying is often seasonal in many parts of the world and become yearly occurrences. In Indian waters five species of marine turtles recorded which include loggerhead turtle Caretta caretta (Dash and Kar, 1990; Kannan and Rajagopalan, 2012).
