Explanation:

Paragraph 1

At the end of our road – the house was old, dark and creepy – I decided to explore this house – pushed open the creaky, rusty gate – strode up to the front door – rusty doorknob and the door clicked open – cold damp air – cobwebs everywhere

Paragraph 2

Suddenly there was a loud crash – it appeared to have come from one of the room upstairs – I hesitated – confused – afraid – at sixes and sevens about whether or not to proceed – I tiptoed up the stairs – found three rooms – doors closed – dust everywhere – carefully walked to one room – opened it cautiously – dusty furniture – bed and chair close by – pillows and sheets in disarray – seemed like people had left in a hurry – went in – musty smell too strong – walked out to venture into the next room

Paragraph 3

Another loud crash – came from room at the end of the hall – moved cautiously towards it – changed my mind – went instead to the middle room to check for possible occupants – totally empty – one framed picture of a beautiful woman on the wall – picture of a large group of men and women in formal clothing – perhaps company executives – attached bathroom with badly worn toothbrushes and dried cake of soap in the sink

Paragraph 4

Loud crash again from the room at the end of the hall – suspected someone was in it – moved cautiously – stood by the door to listen – heard sounds and muffled voices – went back to first room to look for a stick or any other possible weapon – returned to the room – cautiously opened it – surprised – found two children trying to get onto a large, wooden rocking horse – room appeared to have belonged to a young child – old toys strewn everywhere – children stared at me – we talked – they were living in the neighbourhood – young and bold – had no fear of danger – cautioned them – they just carried on playing
