Out of 24 million people 80 percent of Madagascar’s population is working in agriculture and the country’s economy largely involves on this sector though 48 percent of households are faced with food insecurity.  National Nutrition Office (NNO). tells that over 70 percent of households live below the national poverty line of 535,603 Malagasy per year (1 U.S. dollar equals 3,447.50).

Rural Madagascar where subsistence farming is the general economic activity as high as 86 percent of households who is below line of poverty.

If we go on the records, there is more than 24 million of the total population that depends on agriculture as their first source of income.
