Since cotton production was one of the main bussiness out of the use of cotton products. Erode at hois time was a monopoly hense all the money that was to go to other famers was taken by him, later on the growing of cpotton was delocalised, so many farmers started grwig coffee, people opted for other materials such as sisal and plastic making farmers of cotton after Erode poor.

Most of the cotton farmers do not have their own land and they need to do strenuous works to harvest cotton materials. Picking cotton from the farm is very difficult and harvesting cotton take maximum time.

Apart from that, cotton farmers need some other resources such as fertilizers, pesticides and harvesting tools, and they normally borrow money from the local lenders at high interest rate.

Even due to some conditions prescribed in the lending contract, farmers could not able to sell their cotton in the direct market and they have to sell their cotton to the traders at less price.
