the growth rate of population is affected by the birth rate death rate and by the large scale of migration it increases when birth rate is more than the death rate or wind the in migration is more than the out-migration the world population was around 1.5 billion in the year 1900 which has grown to the present population of 7.0 billion in the year 2011 this suggested that the growth rate has been rising UP and population has been continuously increasing rapidly the growth in population of India has rapidly increased during the last century in particular has gone up from about 400 million in 19612 over a billion people in the year 2011 in these years the country has added more than 700 million people which makes the growth rate alarming is estimating that is at the rate of growth in population the country will almost double its population next 36 years

INDIA'S POPULATION

in 1951 ,316.09million
in1961 is 439. 23 million
in 1971 -548. 16 million
in 1981 -683.33 million
in 1991 846. 42 million

1) Growth rate of population declined in India since 1981 due to decline in birth rates and it is considered as positive indicator of birth control

2) At the same time, India’s population is added every decade, for instance, 182 million people were added to total population in 1990

3) This may be due to improved health and sanitation facilities and as a result, death rate has been declined considerably.

4) Apart from death rate reduction, migration also plays a significant role in changing the composition of population
