this time the quarrel begins on their pet dogs.Natalya's pet dog is Squeezer & the Lomov's pet dog is called Guess.Both claim their own dogs superior to other's .Lomov says that his dog is worth 125 roubles & Natalya feels it too big a price for Guess.Lomov calls his dog first of its kind.Natalya resorts by saying that her dog is a lot more better than his.The argument turns bitter & they begin to quarrel .just then Natalya's father,Chubukov joins in the quarrel on their dogs till they begin to abuse each other Lomov calls Chubukov an old rat on which Chubukov warns him to shut up or he would shoot him.The quarrel ends when Lomov faints & falls into an armchair.
