Today’s motherboards are a far cry from the early transistor tubes and CRT vacuum tubes. They are more precise, accurate and can carry billions of operations in seconds. The years 1993, 1995, 2005, 2008 and 2016 neither had any major technical developments nor any significant difference between themselves. Yet, they all contributed in a way towards reaching today’s super computer motherboards.

1993 was characterised by the Octek Jaguar V series with a RAM capacity of 32 MB.

1995 was characterised by the Octek Hippo DCA2 and the AMI BIOS with a RAM capacity of up to 64 MB.

2005 was characterised by the ASUS A8N32-SLI with a RAM capacity of 64 GB which was expandable.

2008 was characterised by the ASUS Rampage II Extreme with an i7 core processing unit.

2016 was characterised by the ASUS Maximus VIII with an inbuilt gaming console support and RAM capacity of 32 GB which was expandable.
