For detecting acid and basic radical from a compound the following tests has to be performed :-

1) The physical observation test where some salts have a specific colour and some compounds have a specific odour.

2) The dry taste where the pinch of salt is heated in a test tube and change color or odour is detected.

3) The charcoal test where The pinch of salt is mixed with sodium salt and then heat it.

Like this many confirmatory tests are performed for knowing the exact acidic and basic radical in the salt.
