Answer:

Given we need to express the given rational number 20 / 25 with 12 as numerator.

So first we need to reduce the fraction in its simplest form.

So the simplest form will be 20 / 25 = 4 / 5.

Now multiplying both numerator and denominator by 3 we get 4/5 x 3/3 = 12 / 15.

We have arrange numerator or denominator by doing multiplication/division so that 12 come as numerator

\frac{20}{25} = \frac{5 * 4}{5 * 5} = \frac{4}{5}  now, to get 12 as numerator we will have to multiply by 3 so that 3 × 4 = 12 , but to get an equal value fraction (equivalent) we have to multiply 3 to denominator also so that value of function doesn't change

\frac{4}{5} = \frac{4*3}{5*3} = \frac{12}{15}
