Determine graphically the vertices of the triangle formed by the lines y=x 3y=x and x+y=8

We are given that

y = x  ...........(1)

3y = x  ........(2)

x + y = 8    .......(3)

Solving Equation (1) and (2) we get

x = 0 and y = 0

So equation (1) and (2) meet at (0 , 0)

Similarly Now solving Equation (2) and (3).

Putting equation (2) in (3) we get

3y + y = 8

4y = 8

y = 2

Putting y = 2 in equation (2) we get

x = 6

So equation (2) and (3) meet at (6 , 2)

Now solving Equation (3) and (1).

Putting equation (1) in (3) we get

x + x = 8

2x = 8

x = 4

Putting x = 4 in equation (1) we get

y = 4

So equation (3) and (1) meet at (4 , 4)

Thus vertices's of triangle are (4 , 4) , (0 , 0) and (6 , 2)
