solution.

We have,

 {x}^{2}  -  \frac{1}{2} x + 16 = 0 \\

Now,

 {b}^{2}  - 4ac \\   { (\frac{1}{2} )}^{2}  - 4 \times 1 \times  \frac{1}{16}  \\  \frac{1}{4}  -  \frac{1}{4}  \\  \:  \:  \:  \: 0

Since,

 {b}^{2}  - 4ac = 0

Therefore, the roots are real and equal.
