Deuteromycetes is also known as imperfect fungi. In the deuteromycota, the sexual stage is not realized.

Instead, asexual stage is only found and it is considered as the imperfect stage. The largest group in kingdom fungi is Deuteromycota.

The members belonging to this state seems to lack sexual reproduction. It is known as form-phylum since the divisions within the group occur on the basis of morphology and does not base upon general phylogenetic background.
