Title: A one-legged thief
Long time ago in a village, there used to live a man with one leg. He always carried a gun and was dressed like a soldier. A parrot always followed him. No one had ever seen him keeping the parrot in a cage. No one ever spoke to him. He used to walk around the village in the evening especially the market area.
One day, he went to a jewel shop and did window-shopping; he was looking casually at the ornaments purchased. His parrot was seated on his shoulder. He saw a man purchasing a beautiful chain. He spoke in a language to the bird on his shoulder; I suppose he spoke its language. It flew away. He saw the man coming out. He followed the man at a distance and saw the bird following both in the air.
The man sat under a tree and took out his chain to inspect. He was imagining how happy that his wife would be on seeing the chain. While he was day-dreaming, the parrot flew past him plucking his chain. He started shouting, some tried to follow the parrot. Some enquired the one-legged man. He said that he won’t be knowing because it was not his bird and he allowed it to perch on his shoulder because he liked birds. No one was able to find fault with him so, he was allowed to go.
He knew where the bird would be, took the chain from the bird, sold it in another town and treated the bird well. Like this, many unsolved robberies happened as long as that man lived there.
