Once upon a time in a village lived a young boy named Tausif. He was a great animal lover. Once while returning home after the usual evening play, he found a cute kitten mewing in a hedge along the road. He picked it up and brought home. At home he persuaded his mother to keep the kitten as pet.
Soon the kitten was thoroughly mixed up in the family. People from neighborhood would throng to have a glimpse of the antics of the feline marvel. It became a constant and dear companion of Tausif. He would love feeding it and playing with it.
Thus many days elapsed until the sad incident happened. One early morning, Tausif heard the painful wail of his beloved kitten. He jumped from the bed and ran towards the painful mewing of the kitten. As he opened the door and rushed to the courtyard, the sight petrified him. Holding in its jaws his dear pet a big stray tom cat was scampering up the stairs. Tausif dashed after the tom cat. Seeing Tausif running after it, it dropped the kitten and with exceeding alacrity it jumped over the neighbor’s wall and disappeared. Tausif picked up the kitten in his hands. He saw it was bleeding profusely. The canines of the tom cat had pierced his neck and scull. Tears welled up in Tausif’s eyes.
Holding the limp kitten in his hands, he ran to Amar, one of his friends, who was studying veterinary in a distant city. Fortunately, Amar had all the medicines at his clinic. He gave the kitten a few emergency shots. He also prescribed some medicines for the kitten for a few days. Every day, Tausif changed the dressing on the gashes on the neck and scull of the kitten. Thus, timely medical care saved the kitten’s life. Tausif was exceedingly happy to have saved his favourite pet.
