It is true to hear the fact that “development goals are conflicting”. Our country is running through various sectors which are interconnected. The change in one sector impacts the other. Development goals are the goals that focuses only on the countries development. But “ Sustainable Development” is the development without affecting the natural environment.
Example 1: construction of dam. It’s advantage is storage of water. It’s disadvantage is reduction in fish due to sedimentation and increase of sediments at the bottom of the water. These are conflicting.
Example 2 : deforestation for development of our country. Even though we are getting development in various sectors, it can be possible only destroying resources. This is the disadvantage.
But the government had implemented “GREEN CREDIT SCHEME”. Under this scheme the government will allow agencies to identify non-forest land and begin growing plantation.. After 3 years, the land will be eligible to be considered as compensatory forest land.
So if an private company wants a forest land for the construction of a company, then he need to give the government the same amount of non forest land. They must assure the government to grow plantations in those non forest land as compensation for that forest land.
This is the example how we can develop in a sustainable manner instead of making conflicting development goals.
