if an atom cannot exist independtly then why do we take an isolated atom to find its ionisation potential, why not a molecule which can exist independently?​

Answer: because in molecules molecular attractions exist on all the atoms present in that molecule. These attractions affect the ionization potential measurements. So we take isolated atom to find ionisation potential.
