Development of a child follows a fixed sequence. Child development takes place in stages called milestones.

EXPLANATION:

At the age of 2 years, a child learns to run and is able to walk up and down the stairs as well. The child is also able to build blocks up to two levels. At the age of 4 years, a child skips on one foot and develops an effective grip as well.

At this age, a child is also able to attend to his or her toilet needs. Thus, we see that development takes place in phases and as the child grows and learns from the environment around and also from parents and peers.
