India is an exotic country. It is a country where one can find or discover almost anything that the entire world can iffer. India is a land of beauty, myth, mystery and fascination. India is a country with immense tourism potential. It is already a favourite tourism spot but India still have a long way to go before making its impact felt in the world. India needs to do several things to improve the potential and standing of tourism in the world.
India is a favourite spot for tourists for its historical heritage. Places of historical importance must be preserved from damage by nature like erosion or by man.
The traditional and cultural diversity of India is beautiful and attracts many tourists. We must do everything possible to promote our cultural diversity from South to North and West to East .
The hospitality and hotel industry is still not up to expectation and must be improved.
Transport system becomes a headache for tourists visiting India. This must be streamlined for easier access and comfort of visitors. There must be easy access to air, water and land transport. More airlines and tourist buses for places of tourist attraction is needed.
The study of foreign languages must be encouraged. People in the tourism industry need to communicate with tourists from countries who cannot speak Hindi. It is important to invest time in learning foreign languages to improve tourism in a long term basis.
India is a country which can be compared to a world of its own. Because it is a place where one can find all varieties of landscape from snow-capped mountains to deserts and climatic conditions. India must preserve the gifts of the natural beauty of forests, rivers, lakes, wildfife, etc
More academic courses on travel and tourism must be introduced in our educational system so that our youth will be equipped to utilise the tourism potential efficiently. This will reduce unemployment and boost the economy of the country.
The scope for tourism in India is vast. If we are sincere about utilising the potentials, it won't be long before we are at the top of the list of tourist attraction in the world.
