Grandma: "Renuka, do you have some money with you to put in the piggy bank?"
Renuka: "Yes, grandma I have a few one rupee coins. I think that is the smallest denomination we have."
Grandma: "You know when I was small there used to be 5 paisa, 10 paisa, 25 paisa and even 50 paisa coins."
Renuka: "Really! I have never even seen them."
Grandma: "Yes the smallest paper currency was Re. 1. There used to be plenty of 5 rupee notes. That is what we used to get as pocket money."
Renuka: "I cannot even imagine getting less than 10 rupees as pocket money"
Grandma: "500 rupees and 1000 rupees was a very huge amount in our times."
Renuka: "I think 500 rupees is a very commonly used note these days."
Grandma: "Yes, but recently the government has removed the 500 rupee and 1000 rupee notes from circulation. Now they have started giving 2000 rupee notes."
Renuka: "Thank you grandma for telling me all about the changes in Indian currency."
