Shyam: That is because of the ban by Government on using plastic bags.
Ram: Oh! I did not know there was a ban. So, are the shopkeepers not allowed to give plastic bags at all?
Shyam: Bags below a certain micron thickness have been banned. Shopkeepers using such bags will be penalized.
Ram: I guess that is why I see cloth bags or paper bags being used.
Shyam: Yes, absolutely. These bags are not only reusable like plastic bags, but also much more easily recyclable. Therefore, there is no threat to the environment.
Ram: That is really nice to hear. I hope the shopkeepers continue to follow this without resuming the use of plastic bags after a while.
